B&W Train / Rail close-ups Challenge finished on Friday, 08 Jan 2010 Let's jump back a few decades and recreate the feel of the old steam era. The emphasis is on the CLOSE-UPS, so no landscape views of a 1 mile-long train, large stations, etc. will be accepted.

Coniferous Forests Challenge finished on Thursday, 07 Jan 2010 For those of you who have forgotten your botany - coniferous trees are the ones with needle-leaves. That being said, I am challenging you to show us your best images of coniferous forests - no mixed forests. Images must include a collection of coniferous trees, however, there is more to a forest than the trees, so show us what's there. While typically only natural elements are permitted in the Art of Earth series, you may include plantations of coniferous trees - but again - no further human influences are allowed - photos must be of nature only, without people, fences, tents, cabins, pets, roads, lights, etc..
Winner: Mirror, mirror...
