Opps - I'm sure that wasn't there when I took the photo Challenge finished on Friday, 27 May 2011 We've all done it - taken a beautiful shot only to look at the photo later and realised that it looks like there is a pole or a stick etc sticking out of your subject - that's called a merging object. Show your best example of it.

Winner: unconventional portrait
Unconventional Portraiture Challenge finished on Thursday, 26 May 2011 Submit a portrait that breaks the rules. -- There are many highly-regarded principles of portrait photography. If you master them, you are nearly guaranteed to produce a fine portrait. However, learning and mastering all these principles can be difficult, and you risk turning out mediocre and bland images. -- Rather, for this challenge, disregard or modify the rules of portraiture. You may come up with something new and fresh, but also be aware that you also risk making an image that looks ridiculous. Unconventional portraits are often spontaneous, and they tend to emphasize style or attitude. Not having to abide by rules makes this challenge simultaneously easy for the beginning photographer, and exceptionally difficult for an established photographer in the marketplace.
C-mount Scenes Challenge finished on Thursday, 26 May 2011 Originally intended for 16mm movie film and other small image formats, C-mount lenses can be adapted to mount and focus to infinity on mirrorless camera bodies such as the Olympus/Panasonic micro 4/3 and Sony NEX APS-C. These lenses often are tiny, very fast, and relatively cheap, especially for shorter focal lengths. My Instructable about using C-mount lenses, http://www.instructables.com/id/C-Mount-Lenses-for-mirrorless-micro-43-and-APS-C/ , concludes that C-mount lenses generally don't make impressive images using these larger sensors. Submit photos that prove me wrong....
Winner: God's Light

Typically FRENCH, as seen by local Citizens Challenge finished on Wednesday, 25 May 2011 This challenge is for the French People only... Show us your interpretation of what you think is “TYPICALLY French”. This is the third of a series of challenges, where we will be covering as many countries as we can. One country at a time. Let your imagination run wild… it can be the people and their food, their sport, their culture, as long as it is “TYPICALLY FRENCH”.
Counter display: Smile Challenge finished on Wednesday, 25 May 2011 The client requires an image of a smile for a small counter display. We don't know the product or service being advertised. We don't know if teeth should be showing or what age or gender is best suited, but the smile had better be compelling and appropriate. The image must be horizontal with a standard 3:2 or 4:3 ratio.
