If you are new to this concept, please read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_hour_%28photography%29 From the host of this challenge: I strive to bring challenges to the community that are not repeats of my previous challenges. I have strove, tried very hard, to offer challenges that are fresh, new, and unique to my past challenges. It has become more and more difficult to deliver new and fresh challenges that are not repeats of my past challenges, but I consider it a challenge to myself to offer new and fresh challenges to the community that aren't the simple repeats that other challenges often deliver. Who am I? I'm a 15 year U.S. Biology Teacher, with a master +30, and a U.S. Scientist (retired). View my photos at: http;//www.piziak.com. Email me directly at: email@example.com

Defining usable space: Ceilings Challenge finished on Friday, 29 Jan 2016 When humans define the spaces within structures that they occupy - either for living or working - they create smaller spaces typically called rooms. In doing this they use components such as walls, floors, and ceilings to delineate the space. In this, they are met with the challenge of how to create these components to suit various purposes - typically esthetic and functional. In the case of the ceiling, they are usually either decorative, functional or both.. For some structures, the ceilings will be purely decorative; in others they will be used to carry mechanical elements such as electrical, plumbing, and ventilation. Often drop ceilings or paint will be used to hide those functions. In all cases, how to integrate these choices into a design that is atractive, efficient, functional and cohesive will drive designers to find useful and attractive solutions. Our challenge will be to deliver photographs that illustrate those choices in equally attractive and artistic ways.
