FAT Challenge finished on Sunday, 20 Mar 2011 As a professional who specializes in literature and gender studies, I have dealt many times with theoretical sources that have opened my mind about and allowed me to understand many ways of discrimination. One of them is the way in which the term "fat" is inherently negative in Western societies. This is, however, thankfully not the case in every social system in our planet. So, submit your favorite shots where you can prove that "fat" is not an inherently derogatory term. Show us beautiful pictures of fat people. There's many of them (not that most media would let you know this though), prove the Western concept of "fat" wrong, show us the beauty in the fat.

Winner: Soft Focus
Filter Effects: Soft Focus Challenge finished on Thursday, 17 Mar 2011 Long before digital editors, photographers used filters to create special effects during capture. One of the most common was the Soft Focus effect. This could range from subtle to the extremes of "Fog" or "Misty" type filters. As in the film era, the effect works best if a solid image is used as a start.
