Japan--Anything other than portraits Challenge finished on Thursday, 05 Sep 2013 Last week's challenge's theme was the people of Japan. Now, show us anything other than portraits. Tokyo's amazing buildings. A beautiful temple. Monkeys taking a bath in hot springs. Misty mountains . . . whatever says "Japan" to you. It is fine to have people in these scenes, as long as they are not the main subjects. If you have any questions, send me a PM well before the submission deadline, or, submit early, and I'll try to DQ well in advance, to give entrants plenty of time to resubmit a different image. Only photos taken inside Japan are eligible. As is usual for my challenges, Entrants are required to (1) vote for each other entry, (2) read the comments (if any) below this challenge, in case I or other entrants post with Rules questions or clarifications, and (3) follow each of the challenge rules. **UPDATE** FOR THIS CHALLENGE, YOU **MUST** VOTE ON OR BEFORE TUESDAY night, Pacific Std. Time. (IE, YOU HAVE ONLY 6 DAYS TO VOTE, INSTEAD OF 7 DAYS!!!!).

Full-Frame Diagonal Fisheyes (Brand Must Match Body) Challenge finished on Thursday, 05 Sep 2013 - Image must be taken with a fisheye lens of the same brand as the camera body used. - Lens native format to camera sensor format relationship must be "full frame" — i.e. the lens must not be cropped by the sensor and the sensor must not be cropped by the lens. - It must be a "diagonal" fisheye projection (no black areas visible) — not a "circular" fisheye projection (a circular image against black). In the old days a "diagonal" fisheye was commonly known as a "full-frame fisheye" (different meaning of 'full-frame' than today's industry marketing jargon). Examples of acceptable combos: - Olympus 8mm Fisheye on Olympus 4/3" sensor body. - Panasonic 8mm Fisheye on Panasonic 4/3" sensor body. - Canon 8-15mm Fisheye on any Canon body (set focal length to match lens to sensor format for diagonal fisheye, see p.8 of lens owner's manual) - Nikon 10.5mm Fisheye on Nikon DX sensor body - etc. Read the other rules below.

Winner: Let's Do The Time Warp Again
Challenge #1: Warp Drive Challenge finished on Wednesday, 04 Sep 2013 Don't just capture a world, change it. Many DPR Challenges are rather prim about postprocessing. No HDR, no composites, contrast and sharpening only, etc. Not this one. This series is for people who think that at least half the fun begins once the image is in the computer, or, for you film holdouts, in the darkroom. Each Challenge in the Series will involve a specific mode of transformation, and the Rules will require that the transformation must extend or enhance the meaning of the original image.
