Japan--Anything other than portraits Challenge finished on Thursday, 05 Sep 2013 Last week's challenge's theme was the people of Japan. Now, show us anything other than portraits. Tokyo's amazing buildings. A beautiful temple. Monkeys taking a bath in hot springs. Misty mountains . . . whatever says "Japan" to you. It is fine to have people in these scenes, as long as they are not the main subjects. If you have any questions, send me a PM well before the submission deadline, or, submit early, and I'll try to DQ well in advance, to give entrants plenty of time to resubmit a different image. Only photos taken inside Japan are eligible. As is usual for my challenges, Entrants are required to (1) vote for each other entry, (2) read the comments (if any) below this challenge, in case I or other entrants post with Rules questions or clarifications, and (3) follow each of the challenge rules. **UPDATE** FOR THIS CHALLENGE, YOU **MUST** VOTE ON OR BEFORE TUESDAY night, Pacific Std. Time. (IE, YOU HAVE ONLY 6 DAYS TO VOTE, INSTEAD OF 7 DAYS!!!!).

Magazine article: Noise pollution Challenge finished on Wednesday, 04 Sep 2013 When you speak about pollution, everyone immediately thinks of trash on the ground, smoke in the air and chemicals in the water. Few recognize that noise is also a pollutant. This article seeks to draw attention to the fact that background noise can be disruptive as well as unhealthy. The magazine needs a photograph to illustrate our noisy world.
Winner: Let's Do The Time Warp Again
Challenge #1: Warp Drive Challenge finished on Wednesday, 04 Sep 2013 Don't just capture a world, change it. Many DPR Challenges are rather prim about postprocessing. No HDR, no composites, contrast and sharpening only, etc. Not this one. This series is for people who think that at least half the fun begins once the image is in the computer, or, for you film holdouts, in the darkroom. Each Challenge in the Series will involve a specific mode of transformation, and the Rules will require that the transformation must extend or enhance the meaning of the original image.
Winner: Wet iPad II

- The Shopkeeper - (Full Colours Only + Border + Title Watermark) Challenge finished on Monday, 02 Sep 2013 Take a photo of ONE adult shopkeeper or appears to be running a shop inside, outside, beside the shop which appears to be operating from a fixed property. It would be great to have a faceshot with the whole body, but if it's not possible then other weaker shots would also be accepted. Silhouettes shots do not qualify, my apologies. There can be other people provided they are insignificant to the shot and blurred/small/far away and does not distract from the 'shopkeeper'. You may enter up to 2 entries, provided they are different person. Photo can be taken with any camera, i.e DSLR, SLR, Mirrorless, Compact, Smartphone, etc... Please include a border and an appropriate title watermarked on the photo itself.
