Life in the Macro Jungle Challenge finished on Saturday, 23 Apr 2016 This Macro Nature challenge invites you to show us pictures of insects, spiders, or other small creatures in their natural habitat, amongst grasses, leaves, plant stems, flowers, etc. Pictures where the insects or spiders dominate a single flower or leaf and there is a plain background will be disqualified, since that does not give us the impression of 'life in the jungle'. Think busy scenes, with interesting camouflage for these little creatures. Macro or close-up shots only. The size of your entry is important: 1,600 pixels on the longer side. DPR does not reduce the size of your entry; you need to do it yourself, or be disqualified.

What Do You Not Like About This Picture Challenge finished on Thursday, 21 Apr 2016 This is a challenge with a twist. The goal of it is to get critiques on entries. The expectation is that voters, or non-voters, will take the time to critique at least one entry with some meaningful, hence, useful, comment. I'd like to suggest to star the critique with "What I don't like is/are...." With that in mind... You took a picture. You post-processed it. The final result was something you're proud of. But maybe there is something about the picture that needed improvement, you think or suspect. Submit it here with the expectation of getting critiques. Pictures that do not get any meaningful critique prior to the end of voting will be disqualified. Subject is open. A critique is considered meaningful/useful if it gets at least 2 up-votes

My Best Photo of the Week Challenge finished on Wednesday, 20 Apr 2016 Did you capture a wonderful photo this week, but there's no current and appropriate challenge to display it? Here is your opportunity to show it to us. Please remember that this is a family-friendly site, and enter photos appropriate for everyone to view. Make sure your entry is 1,600px MAXIMUM on its longer side. DPR does NOT resize your photos for you. You need to do this yourself BEFORE you enter a challenge. Entrants with oversize photos will not be invited to re-submit them. Get the size right the first time!
