Shades of Black in Nature Challenge finished on Saturday, 27 Feb 2016 Black is a very dramatic colour in nature's landscape. It is the darkest color, the result of the absence of or complete absorption of light, and the opposite of white (the combined spectrum of colour or light). It is an achromatic colour, literally a colour without colour or hue. (Wikipedia). The colour black relates to the hidden, the secretive and the unknown, and as a result it creates an air of mystery. This is a FULL COLOUR challenge, so definitely no black & white entries or desaturated pictures. Man-made structures should be minimal, no humans, domestic pets or birds deprived of their freedom. Macro and close-ups welcome. Size of entry: 1,600 pixels on its longer side.

From the host of this challenge: I strive to bring challenges to the community that are not repeats of my previous challenges. I have strove, tried very hard, to offer challenges that are fresh, new, and unique to my past challenges. It has become more and more difficult to deliver new and fresh challenges that are not repeats of my past challenges, but I consider it a challenge to myself to offer new and fresh challenges to the community that aren't the simple repeats that other challenges often deliver. Who am I? I'm a 15 year U.S. Biology Teacher, with a master +30, and a U.S. Scientist (retired). I am an avid supporter of Pentax dslr camera(s) and lenses. View my photos at: http;//www.piziak.com.
