The Astonishing World of Small Structures Challenge finished on Friday, 04 Oct 2013 Cameras are great tools to enlarge and explore the world that exists at and beyond the limits of human perception. Let's dive into this strange, beautiful world. Please submit your best macro photo of rocks, minerals, crystals, snow, ice, sand, glass shards, or similar. Material can be natural or manmade, as long as it was shaped by forces of nature. No pictures of little creatures -- maybe we'll do those another time. Please mention what we are looking at (for educational purposes).. Detailed or simple descriptions are ok, such as "pyrite trinket" or "rock found in my backyard."
-A Building in Full Dramatic Colours- (Border + Title watermark) Challenge finished on Thursday, 03 Oct 2013 Take an outdoors dayshot of a building (or two or three .. ) as the main subject and process it so that it has a classy EYE CATCHING DRAMATIC COLOURS which seems too good to be true. Put a Border and Title Watermark on the photograph itself. Photo can be taken with any camera, i.e DSLR, SLR, Mirrorless, Compact, Smartphone, etc... Sunset/sunrise shots are acceptable provided they are not those silhouette type of shots.

Afganistan, Usbekistan, the other 'Stans--Anything Goes Challenge finished on Thursday, 03 Oct 2013 Images taken in the following countries are ok: Kazakhstan; Uzbekistan; Turkmenistan, Tajikistan; Kyrgyzstan; Afghanistan. All types of images are fine: Nature, portraits, buildings, etc.. Because this challenge is open to entries taken in several different countries, the title or description MUST be in the following general form: Country, city/town, plus (ideally) the specific location. [Ex: "Afghanistan, Kabul. Small girl playing doll" or "Kyrgyzstan, Lake Issyk-Kul, fishermen at dawn."] NOTE: I have no idea how many DP members have been to any of these countries. This particular challenge will be withdrawn if there are fewer than 5 valid entries. As usual for my challenges, Entrants are required to (1) vote for each other entry, (2) read the comments (if any) below this challenge, in case I or other entrants post with Rules questions or clarifications, and (3) follow each of the challenge rules...including voting WITHIN THE FIRST SIX DAYS of the challenge.
