A portrait in Corcos style Challenge finished on Monday, 04 May 2015 VIttorio Matteo Corcos was an Italian painter (1859 - 1933) who dedicated himself to portrait. He also had some experience with former cameras, in his late days. His portraits ranged from "headshot" to "environmental portrait", but all of them are recognizable - as he himself told - for his obsession for eyes and small details. Her women are usually young, innocent without looking naive, quite formal yet subtly sensual. His men are formal patriarchs, but they don't forget they're fathers before being leaders, they're wiser than severe. Input "corcos ritratti" in Google, and you find a lot of sample images...just let me address you to "Sogni"; "Lina Cavalieri" and "Paolina Clelia Bonin" for female portraits and to "Emilio Treves", "Giuseppe Garibaldi" and "Autoritratto" for men portraits

BE CREATIVE, HAVE FUN.
The Pollinators Challenge finished on Saturday, 02 May 2015 This challenge addresses the many and varied ways that flowers achieve pollination, that is, the fertilisation of the flowers so the plants will produce fruits or seeds. Honey bees are the obvious first choice, but native bees pollinate flowers, as do some wasps, butterflies, moths, beetles, flower spiders, some flies, small birds, bats, and small animals. Your entries should show the insect or animal performing this task, (a hummingbird or honeyeater deep in a flower, or a bee covered in pollen grains, or with its 'saddlebags' packed with pollen on its way back to the hive.) No hand- or artificial pollination. Macro and close-ups welcome. For more information, go to: http://www.mbgnet.net/bioplants/pollination.html or you can check Wikipedia and be more confused, but better informed. :-) Size of entry: 1,600px MAXIMUM on its longer side.
