Architectural Detail - Steel or other metal Challenge finished on Friday, 04 Dec 2015 Throughout history humans have been builders - a place to live, a place to work, worship, or play. In doing that they have chosen many materials with which to build and in many styles. In this challenge, show a detail of a structure that illustrates the use of steel or other metal as a significant element. It can be anything: a construction detail of an iron or steel bridge, a hinge on a door, or even the elegant shimmer of a copper downspout on a house - you pick. It must, however, be a detail of the item not the entire item - close up of the rivets, not the whole bridge, for example.

New photo, camera you haven't used in years Challenge finished on Thursday, 03 Dec 2015 This challenge is for digital photos taken now with camera equipment (BOTH body AND lens) that you used to use, but haven't shot more than a few photos with in at least 3 years. Normally, I'm the guy pushing new technology, so why this challenge? Cameras are just tools to help you make the photos you envision, but very often vision gets narrowed to what your equipment can easily do: you learn a formula for making good photos with that equipment. The hope is using that old camera will reawaken how you thought about making images then, helping you to see more options that might make a great photo.

Its Occupational - Office Worker Challenge finished on Monday, 30 Nov 2015 This week we will look at the office workers. Remember these are portrait shots and portraits are defined as follows. A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. Environmental portraits show the subject in their typical work surroundings.
