Man-made objects or constructions should be minimal, and not the subject of your picture; no humans, or domestic pets. The shadows must be shadows, NO reflections or silhouettes accepted. For this challenge: SHADOW: A dark image caused on a surface by light. It is not the object itself, but the shape of the object created by blocking the light. REFLECTION: An image that is seen in a mirror or shiny surface, or one given back by a reflecting surface. SILHOUETTE: A dark shape in front of a light background. The silhouette shows an actual subject, but with the background lit so that the subject's details are not seen, just their shape. Macro and close-ups welcome. Using a structure: Changing levels Challenge finished on Friday, 18 Dec 2015 As cities grow and become more densely populated, space on earth becomes more costly and sought after. Consequently, we expand and capture space by building upwards - ever higher and higher. In this, we are met with the challenge of how to move people and goods efficiently and smoothly between levels in our buildings. For some structures it will be stairways; escalators will be the answer for some applications and in many, elevators will offer a solution. In assisting users with mobility challenges, ramps or other means will be needed. In many, all methods will be incorporated. In all cases, how to integrate these choices into a design that is atractive, efficient, functional and cohesive will continue to drive designers to more and more innovative solutions. Our challenge will be to reflect on the choices made and memorialize the results. Each choice will offer many opportunities to deliver photographs that provide us with thoughtful and attractive visual grist for our mills. Enjoy!
