Macro - Decaying in Nature Challenge finished on Wednesday, 11 Nov 2015 Submit a photo of something decaying in nature My inspiration for this challenge is as I ride my dirt bike through the Fall trails, a few times I smell the smell of decay of life that was once alive in the spring and summer, but now is dead - be it Plant, Animal, Fungi, or other once living organisms in the Biological Life Kingdom. From the author of this challenge: I strive to bring challenges to the community that are not repeats of my previous challenges. I have strove, tried very hard, to offer challenges that are fresh, new, and unique to my past challenges. It has become more and more difficult to deliver new and fresh challenges that are not repeats of my past challenges, but I consider it a challenge to myself to offer new and fresh challenges to the community that aren't the simple repeats that other challenges often deliver Who am I? I'm a 15 year U.S. Biology Teacher, with a master +30, and a U.S. Scientist (retired)

Plants Fighting Back Challenge finished on Tuesday, 10 Nov 2015 This challenge will be focused on nature trying to reclaim what is rightfully hers. For this challenge you'll want to photograph a plant trying to reclaim their territory such as grass growing between cracks in the sidewalk or tree roots breaking through side walks or vines taking over a building. Please take you photos in a 'creative style' don't just simply snap a photo, get it from a lower angle or higher, get really close and show the roots really cracking through the sidewalk, etc. Be creative in showing mother nature fighting back. Your photo should tell a story. With judging this challenge, which photo represents nature's struggle to claim back what is rightfully hers? Is the photo appealing and not boring (close with shallow depth of field and a nice angle vs. a quick point and shoot photo that shows no effort). Could you tell what the story of the photo is if it were seen some where else (can you tell its to show nature breaking through).

breaking cliches Challenge finished on Sunday, 08 Nov 2015 We all have at least one photo cliche in our portfolio, the stunning sunset, the silky waterfall, the portrait with blurry background. while these photos are cliches for a reason (usually aesthetically pleasing), we see them often enough they loose their impact for the general viewer. in this challenge I propose entrants submit photos of cliched subjects, but add something to "break" the cliche. see sample for example. BE CREATIVE, HAVE FUN.
