Landscape Photo with Natural Framing. Challenge finished on Thursday, 31 Mar 2016 Frames in photo composition help to concentrate attention on the subject by directing the eye away from the sides of a photo. Frames may be man made, such as walls or roofs, or natural, such as branches or geology. Can you create a landscape photo with natural frames? Please vote on which photo is most technically accomplished, most aesthetically pleasing, and that contains natural framing. If you are a member of Flickr you may also wish to post your photo to the group "Landscape Challenge", newly created for this challenge series: https://www.flickr.com/groups/2918843@N21/

Empty Playground Challenge finished on Thursday, 31 Mar 2016 Time to get spooky with an empty playground. The image must scream out loneliness and isolation. maybe throw some light painting into the mix, a fog machine if you have one available. Think about your post processing and also your settings. ND, or not too ND? Challenge finished on Thursday, 31 Mar 2016 Let's see how extreme ND (neutral density) filters compare with stacking using milder or no ND filter. Extreme ND filters cut light enough to allow long, motion-blurring, exposures even in bright daylight, but there is another way: image stacking of shorter exposures. Instead of one 16s exposure, you could stack (average) a rapid sequence of 16 1s exposures using a much lighter ND filter or none at all. Stacking should give higher IQ (e.g., lower noise) without needing the expensive filter. This challenge is to determine if it does... and you should label each submission with number-of-shots@ND-stops, e.g., 2@ND10 would mean two shots with a 10-stop ND filter.
