Winner: Cycle of life
In the red Challenge finished on Monday, 20 Apr 2009 A simple theme, let's see pictures where the only strong colour is red. But red must be the natural colour of your subject - no filters, gels or colour swapping allowed, and no toning or selective colouration either. Also, images must be shot after the announcement of the challenge.
Winner: my hercules
Show off your ride Challenge finished on Monday, 20 Apr 2009 Show off your favorite mode of transportation, make it flashy! This should be easy if you own a nice boat, motorcycle or spaceship, but it's even better if you manage to make your battered bicycle or your oldest shoes look like a rapper's pimpmobile.
Smiling Challenge finished on Monday, 20 Apr 2009 A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.
Winner: Lost door
Recording Memories Challenge finished on Sunday, 19 Apr 2009 We all have a special possession that reminds us of something or someone, or that evokes a particular period of our lives. Choose a person other than yourself, and portray him or her with an object that tells us a story. There are no restrictions about type of camera, but post-production must be kept to a minimum. It is important that the words you use give strength to your work rather than narrow its meaning. Thus, the title should be minimal and only descriptive, just the name of the person--and what the object is, if you wish. But as part of the challenge, I strongly encourage you to use your poetic talents in the description or notes, where you can speak more about the person, the object, and their stories.
Winner: Too many choices?
Failures of Design Challenge finished on Saturday, 18 Apr 2009 Sometimes, despite the best of intentions, man-made creations either don't do what they're supposed to or conflict with other objects and/or their environments in such ways that we can't help but shake our heads. I'm specifically looking for examples of counter-productive human creations here, no poking fun at the natural world itself. Bear in mind that some designs are elegant yet unintuitive, so be careful when pointing the finger.
Winner: House of cards
Architecture... Demolition ! Challenge finished on Thursday, 16 Apr 2009 This challenge is dedicated to demolition of buildings. Show us what happen !
Winner: Bokeh'd against a bed of Creeping Jenny
Buds and Thorns Challenge finished on Thursday, 16 Apr 2009 Post a photograph of colorful buds but take care that thorns also get equal importance.
Winner: In search of nector from heaven
A distant compact Challenge finished on Wednesday, 15 Apr 2009 This challenge is for compact cameras only, and specifically those with a long zoom. We're looking for those long distance shots you could only have captured with a big telephoto, the catch being it's got to be a compact camera's built in big zoom. We're looking for shots with lots of 'X', 20X, 24X, whatever you've got, give it your best.
Winner: Early morning at Capri.
I do like to be beside the seaside Challenge finished on Wednesday, 15 Apr 2009 Ok, sand may not be too good for your lenses but the seashore can be a great place to take photos. This challenge is about day trips to the seaside, so no sunsets, surfers or sea-based sports. And no-one said the weather has to be good.
Vignette Challenge finished on Monday, 13 Apr 2009 Vignetting is often seen by the unimaginative as an optical defect to be avoided at all costs. But it can be a powerful method of drawing attention to your subject, by reducing the visual impact of the surroundings and background. Show us pictures which use vignetting to help make their point.
