Winner: I am born on the stage
All the world's a stage... Challenge finished on Sunday, 28 Feb 2010 Many people like to "ham it up" if given the chance. Here's an opportunity for people you know to play the actor for your camera. Enlist your friends, relatives (or even yourself) as models and let them "play act" however they want, whether it be a carefully posed and lit studio shot or an impromptu bit of staging. (In the later case, please try to avoid cheap looking snap shots). Events such as plays, live performances are not allowed. Subjects must be non-professionals: no professional models, actors or other performers allowed. Please see additional rules.

Victorian Cutups! Challenge finished on Sunday, 28 Feb 2010 For awhile in the early days of photography it was popular to make collages from photographs, drawings and paintings. There is currently an exibition of them at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The samples are from an article in the New York times on that exhibit. http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2010/02/04/arts/20100205-VICTORIAN_index.html You don't need to make it look victorian unless that's what moves you.
Winner: Sunrise at Sea Level

For this challenge, read up on the film noir movement and submit an appropriate image. Make it dark, make it gritty, make it heavy, cool and dramatic - and be sure to de-emphasize colors.

Break the rules: Travel Landscape Challenge finished on Friday, 26 Feb 2010 This idea is totally stolen from a post by Thom Hogan: Break the photography rules, but make a better image by doing so. No rule of thirds? no problem. Best shot wins, but break the (composition) rules okay? Break as many composition rules as you want. Sometimes, you need to know that the rules won't work. VOTERS: Vote low for any image that has perfect rule of thirds, balance or imbalance by way of rule of thirds, etc. The more perfect the composition fits the (normal) rules, the lower you should vote.
Chrome Challenge finished on Friday, 26 Feb 2010 Remember polishing that chrome bumper that seemed to go on for ever? Driving at night and seeing the colors twist and dance across it? Little by little chrome is slipping into history... bumpers, fins, hood ornaments, motorcycles, accents....even blenders and malt mixers!...what is left is getting harder to find. Be creative...show how reflections in the chrome can change perspectives and bend reflections
Winner: “I See You”
Avatar! Challenge finished on Friday, 26 Feb 2010 Take a picture of someone that you think could be your avatar. You are allowed to use photoshop to alter the image to depict what you truly think your alter ego might look like. Do you see yourself as a deity? Go crazy with the theme. Having said that, you don't have to alter the image digitally if you don't want to. Be adventurous and innovative. For this challenge, the image must be taken AFTER the announcement date of the challenge. Note: Any complaints about the entries, must be submitted ONLY during the submission phase. Once the submission phase ends and voting starts, complaints will not be entertained.
