Pink, the colour somewhere between red and white, is an inviting, warm colour in nature's palette. History has linked it with love, beauty, femininity, sensitivity and romance. We see many shades and tones of pink in nature, from the palest pink of apple blossom, to the hot, hot pink of some birds, which almost hurts your eyes; leaves, salt lakes, rock crystals, birds or animals, shells and coral. Please think beyond sunrises or sunsets, they are just too easy. Man-made structures should be minimal. Please no humans, domestic pets or birds deprived of their freedom. Macro and close-ups welcome. Size of entry: 1,600 pixels on its longer side.

Processing rules:

SIZE: Longer side of entry, MAXIMUM 1600px. Since I expect this challenge to fill quickly, members who enter over-size shots will NOT be invited to re-submit them.
FULL COLOUR only. No sepia tones or de-saturation in your entry.
No glaringly obvious HDR or extreme post-processing.
TITLE: Give your entry a title or name, not just a file number.
NO watermarks or forms of identification, or personal website reference.

No restrictions.

No photos which have won previous DPR challenges, please.
Photos which have been entered in multiple challenges may be disqualified.
Two (2) entries per person allowed, but each entry should be a different subject.
PLEASE vote on other entries, to counteract the sandbaggers.
MEMBERS WHO CHOOSE NOT TO VOTE IN CHALLENGES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
Entrants who cheat by sandbagging, vote manipulation, vote solicitation or with multiple DPR accounts will be banned from my challenges.

I have been a member of DPR for several years and early on I voted in many challenges. However, I must disagree with any Challenge host who chooses to disqualify an entry because the owner does not vote. I am now over 85 years old and I do not have the stamina to peruse and evaluate entries. The Host makes too many assumptions about the background of entrants.

Hi Harveydad,
You have 11,500+ voted given by you over the years. You, and the majority of members have given your votes freely, to ensure that the challenge system works smoothly and fairly.
I am trying to address the small number of members who feel it is their 'Right', to enter several hundred, one or two thousand challenges, and have never, ever participated in voting. IMO, this is very discourteous of them, and just not fair to everyone else.
I know from reading your messages in the forums that you would prefer a gallery-style challenge where there is no voting, and no graded placings. However, the challenges were set up long before I came along, to give members the opportunity to test themselves against their peers. So that's the set-up we have, and my banning of lazy members is the only way I've found to make my challenges fairer for everyone.
