Sometimes nature creates structures which we wouldn't see in everyday life, whether it be from rock, wood, or something else. Submit your best photo(s) of these wonderful and odd formations.

Tuesday, 25th November, 2014 (GMT)

Submissions:

Tuesday, 2nd December, 2014 – Monday, 8th December, 2014 (GMT)

Voting:

Tuesday, 9th December, 2014 – Monday, 15th December, 2014 (GMT)

Processing rules:

Image adjustments/enhancements are allowed, but nothing excessive or fake (e.g. dramatic HDR, adding/removing subjects).

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

Additional rules:

Images of man-made structures will be DQ'd.
Whether the formation qualifies as "unusual" will be decided by the host, and will not be open for discussion.
2 entries maximum per person, but they should each be of a different subject.
All entries taken with a digital camera must contain a set of EXIF data. This is not compulsory for images developed/scanned from film, or early digitals which do not support EXIF.
Though not compulsory, I request that all entrants vote on other entries to counteract the sandbaggers.
I will increase the maximum entry limit to 100 if the challenge is well-received.
Images which have been entered in previous DPReview challenges are allowed, but no images which have won a previous challenge, and no images which have previously been entered in 3+ challenges.
Failure to meet any of the requirements, unless stated otherwise, will result in disqualification.

Great challenge that would have been very difficult to vote one photo over another. The Earth is certainly beautiful and this contest just demonstrates that.

Lots of slot canyon entries for obvious reasons.

Boy you are really something, DPR Challenge. Light rays are a natural formation, and anti-crepuscular rays are unusual formations of natural light.

I have learned a considerable amount about photography from following DPR for which I am grateful. But its kind of sad, considering that I bought my first ever good quality digital camera based on comments I've read here, that I now feel overwhelmingly excluded and unwelcome. I have never tried to offend anyone or be rude, intentionally. I have entered many challenges and failed everytime, but not too worried because felt I was contributing something to the community. I suspected that voting for the challenges is rigged and who knows, who cares? Maybe the general standards of photography are getting higher and more professional, or maybe my meagre skills at photography have waned, along with my interest. Anyway if you are still reading, tough luck for me, but I think you are wrong in your reasons for DQing me.
