Nature's Delicate Beauty

Challenge #127 in the Life in the Natural World series. Hosted by RuthC.
Challenge has finished
This challenge is about delicacy or fragility in nature. Your entries may be those plants, flowers, insects or animals which are delicate. Alternatively, they may appear deceptively delicate to us while in their own environment they are actually strong and robust. A dragonfly's wings look delicate, while they are surprisingly strong. Beautiful lacy spiderwebs are not really delicate, since they can hold their prey many times their size and weight. Fragile-looking flowers or plants can withstand extreme weather conditions. Show us what you consider to be fragile or delicate in nature. Macro and close-ups welcome. Size: 1,600px MAXIMUM on the longer side.
