You can call it that, if you want. It's a bit silly (I doubt whether buy-boxes on DPR move Amazon's bottom line by an appreciable amount) but you can say it if you really want to. Nobody is going to delete your comment.

So it was removed? And other peoples too? Without them being against 'the rules'? That is indeed not the same thing, it's worse.
Perhaps in place of removing the whole thread, replace the 'offending' comment with a msg that it was removed. The context might be gone then, but it feels less like random censorship.

What you end up with then is a disjointed, confusing thread, full of holes, consisting of posts reacting to a troll comment which no longer exists. There's no perfect way of moderating comments threads, but at least this way we're not presenting anything (as you say) out of context.

Every time we delete a post or a thread, however we do it, some people will scream "censorship!" because this is the Internet.

I have no problem with Amazon running the site, content costs money, somebody has to pay. I would have a problem if they lie about who pays for reviews. If Sony flies you to Aruba for a review with free gear on top, say it.
What I do have a problem with is that an offending (was it truly? I think not) comment can result in the deleting of comments following on that 'offending' one. That's just wrong.
There are no historical significant posts on dpreview, nothing people 100 years from now are going to worship as being send from goth. So, delete the offending text, replace it with 'removed because violation of rules' and let the rest be out of context.
The assumption that if one or two comments lose their context it will change humanity or the way the earth moves through the universe are of course ridiculous. Also assuming that 99% of your readers (the people who make you money) are to stupid to read around deleted msg is an insult.
Keep removing innocent comments and the site will go..

Canon 5DIV to 645z might be my holiday gift. I have am almost new price for my 5D + 16-35mm f4 IS (about 4K and the 645z is 5500$ and 6K with a 75mm f/2.8 smc)

What super sharp UWA would you get with that and how much do they cost?

Already stretching it anyway since video is a concern and might be shelling out for an RX1004 or XC10.

Any sharp Pentax wides?

True, but I'm thinking the focus of this guide is biased towards photographers, although there are some gifts that are non-photography (like the Drones), but it's the concept of companies donating this time of year to a good cause, using a part of each sale as a donation.

I agree. But books might be a bit subjective, as two people might have different opinions about the same book (ie. learning style). But a nice list of books with a few for each type of subject matter (composition, portraiture, night, etc) would be good. Also I think some online training courses would be good to recommend to, seeing that money doesn't seem to be much of an object for the third tier since they're listing the D850. So subscriptions like KelbyOne, Lynda, and there are others too.

As pretty as the Peak Design Everyday Bag is, and as clever as the Origami dividers inside it are, the bottom line for me is that it is overbuilt, heavy, stiff, and not comfortable to carry. At and below its not inconsiderable price there are other choices that best it in all of these categories. The major difference? None are as much of a fashion statement as the Everyday Bag is. And that's it's major draw.

I got my peak 20l right here at work, very professional. Too bad it doesn't carry any binder unless I reconfigure the interior. Also it can't really fit any laptop over 15". It carry my Nikon df, a tablet and some food, about it.

I find it interesting that an everyday backpack can handle only a laptop, camera equipment, and small personal items. No paper. As electronic as this age is, we still use paper in the office.

Actually, the Everyday Backpack has a divider in the laptop compartment that is perfect to carry a bunch of paper sheets. And you can reconfigure the interior to carry more bulky books or binders if necessary.

I have to agree somewhat on the 'heavy, stiff' parts. But then again, not so much that one can't get used to it.

Or maybe some of the camera companies could get involved too... say, buy a Sony a9 and we'll donate $50 to the Red Cross, or whatever, for each a9 purchased in Nov/Dec. Something like that. Nikon and Canon could get on board too. I mean, you're getting what you want (a new camera presumably) and you're helping a charity at the same time.

The TG-5 just had a $50-off sale, I don't see another currently running. I bought a Spark for myself. The smaller size and ability to fly it in doors just for giggles, and that it's also compatible with my future purchase of the DJI goggle, means that I'll get more use out of it than the Mavic.

I like the idea of the portable SSD - but how do you control getting the photos off the SD/XQD/CF whatever card?

Western Digital has a "My Passport Wireless" that has an SD slot and has an internal battery for transfering in the field. Mind you, it takes forever to transfer a 16GB card of RAW files. But it is handy.

Or just use your phone/tablet... I hook up SSDs and large flash drives to my Pixel & Nexus 7 all the time, just need a Type C to A adapter for the former or a micro B to Type A OTG adapter for the latter, and a hub if if wanna connect both a small card reader and the medium in backing up to at the same time.

Tends to be a little slower to transfer things around than on a full blown laptop, but it's still faster than the vast majority of Wi-Fi solutions or even smart drives with their own readers (for one reason or another many tend to be pretty slow, where it is the port or the reader compatibility, etc).

The little adapter cable takes no space at all and the tablet/phone would be coming with me anyway. I used to lug around a cheap netbook just for this but I haven't bothered in a few years.
