Pentax owner Ricoh has released very limited details of a DSLR and a collection of three lenses that it says it will launch in the future. Reference images that accompany the announcement appear to show a mid-range APS-C DSLR that the company says will feature a CMOS sensor. This may arrive in stores in spring this year. The camera is shown with a new 18-50mm f/4-5.6 collapsible zoom lens attached – which will be available at about the same time.

Even more vague are details of two zoom lenses for the K system – a high magnification super-telephoto zoom and wide diameter telephoto zoom. The company will probably use this occasion to introduce its SDM focus motor to the new products, and is likely to make them weather resistant as well.

The Pentax K range has clear gaps for the 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3-type lens other manufacturers have found so popular, as well as something like a 70-200mm f/2.8. Interestingly, the high magnification super-telephoto lens model appears to have space for two switches - one would usually be for changing between manual and auto focusing modes, while in some other brands the second switch would be for image stabilization or image stabilization modes.

The 'reference' products are due to be on show on the Ricoh stand at CES in Las Vegas, where more details may perhaps be gleaned.
