Sony Mobile Communications has announced plans to get into the camera drone business, saying that it has partnered with Japanese robotics company ZMP to found Aerosense Inc. Together the companies will focus on 'enterprise solutions using autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles for image capture', combining their respective technologies to develop enterprise services slated to arrive in early 2016.

Sony Mobile, which says this latest partnership is part of its Internet of Things efforts, will be providing the imaging, telecommunications network and robotic technologies, while ZMP will provide its own robotics and automated driving technologies. The resulting products will, among other things, meet needs related to surveying, measuring, observing, and inspecting. Aerosense will be based out of Tokyo, Japan.
