Note: Our full review on the Sony RX10 II has been posted, read it here.

The Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II offers some impressive video capture capabilities including the option to record in 4K. And like the RX100 IV, the RX10 II can also capture slow motion video at 240, 480 or 960fps (though not in 4K mind you).

Recording at the top frame rate gives the equivalent of 40x super slow motion. And while final video output in any of these High Frame Rate modes is 1080p, actual video resolution varies. When the camera is set to Quality Priority mode (which we used here), actual resolution is the following: 1,824×1,026 at 240fps, 1,676×566 at 480fps and 1,136×384 at 960fps.

Below you will find three sample videos shot at 240fps, one shot at 480fps, one at 960fps, and two 4K video samples taken in both low and bright light. We've also made several of the original video files available for download.

Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II @ 240fps Sample 1

This video clip was shot at 240fps, which is the equivalent of slowing down the footage 10x. The hardest part of trying to record bees is keeping focus. Once you start video capture in any of the high frame rate options, focus is locked. Click to download the original video file for the above clip (20 secs, 125MB).

Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II @ 240fps Sample 2

Another 'bees in flight' clip shot at 240fps and slowed down 10x.

Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II @ 240fps Sample 3

This video of a martial arts demo was recorded at a media event sponsored by Sony in Portland. It's an example of 240fps video captured in a low light environment.

Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II @ 480fps Sample 1

Dancing fountains, slowed down 20x can be quite mesmerizing. Click to download the original video file for the above clip (40 secs, 253MB).

Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II @ 960fps Sample 1

This clip was shot at the fastest frame rate of 960fps, or the equivalent of 40x slow motion capture. One thing you'll notice if you view this clip at 100% is that the quality is not as good as the other high frame rate clips. This is because the resolution drops quite a bit at 960fps.

Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II 4K Daylight Sample 1

This clip was shot hand-held in the late afternoon, with the camera zoomed out to an equivalent of 24mm. Click to download the original video file for the above clip (20 secs, 248MB).

Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II 4K Low Light Sample 1

This clip was shot hand-held at ISO 6400, with the camera zoomed to an equivalent of 24mm. A music venue makes an ideal low light shooting scenario. Click to download the original video file for the above clip (21 secs, 265MB).
