Best lens of 2014: Winner - Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM | A

We weren't surprised to see that you'd voted Sigma's 50mm F1.4 DG HSM | A your lens of 2014. The 50mm F1.4 DG HSM is a premium 'normal' prime designed for full frame SLRs, and part of Sigma's 'Art' line. Not to be confused with the older 50mm D1.4 EX DG HSM, it's a completely new lens with a complex optical formula of 13 elements in 8 groups, and a minimum focus distance of 40cm. As part of the 'Global Vision' line it's also compatible with Sigma's USB dock and Mount Conversion Service.

It's fair to say that this 'nifty fifty' is one of the best primes on the market, and although it's not exactly compact or lightweight, optical quality and build are absolutely superb. With 22% of the vote it has clearly impressed you, too - easily winning your vote for best lens of 2014.
