Leica has announced a complete replacement of its Summarit-M range with a family of F2.4 lenses. As before the Summarit-M range will comprise 35mm, 50mm, 75mm and 90mm focal lengths. The 35mm will be the first Summarit to include an aspheric lens element. The 75mm and 90mm will be available this month, with the other two following in October. All four lenses will be available in a choice of black or anodized silver finish.

New York, New York (September 16th, 2014) Leica Camera presents a new generation of Leica Summarit-M-Lenses. The new lenses have a maximum aperture of f/2.4, improved image characteristics, and a new lens design. The range of focal lengths available in the Leica Summarit-M-Lens family remains the same, with 35, 50, 75 and 90 mm. For the first time, they are now available in a choice of black and silver anodized finishes.

The universal Leica Summarit-M 35 mm f/2.4 ASPH. is the smallest and lightest 35 mm lens in the Leica rangefinder system. It is the only Summarit-M-Lens to ever feature an aspherical lens element.

The high performance, light weight, and easy handling make the Leica Summarit-M 50 mm f/2.4 ASPH. a particularly versatile lens. With the angle of view of this lens corresponding to the field of view of the human eye, the Summarit-M 50mm offers impressively neutral color rendition, amazing sharpness, and perfect clarity.

The Summarit-M 75 mm f/2.4 is significantly more compact than other M-Lenses with similar focal lengths while still achieving outstanding imaging performance. In comparison to its predecessor, the new lens has a closest focusing distance of only 0.7 m. In combination with the 35 mm Summarit-M, these are an ideal pair of lenses for exploring the world with no boundaries.

The Leica Summarit-M 90 mm f/2.4 rounds off the family of Summarit-M-Lenses as an extremely versatile telephoto lens. This particularly compact lens offers ideal handling and is characterised by exceptional optical and mechanical quality. The closest focusing distance was reduced for this lens to 0.9 m.

The 75 and 90 mm and will be available in Leica Stores, Boutiques and dealers in September. The 35 and 50 mm lenses will be available in Leica Stores, Boutiques and dealers in October. The lenses are sold complete with a lens hood and a metal lens cap.
