Olympus develops compact camera with Zuiko lens
Pre-Photokina 2010: Olympus has announced it is developing an enthusiasts' compact camera that, for the first time, will have a Zuiko-branded lens. In addition to using the Zuiko name, long used to denote the company's top-end lenses, the camera will also have the accessory port that features on the PEN E-P2 and E-PL1. A mockup will be shown at Photokina so we'll try to get a picture as soon as we can.

Olympus developing world’s first digital compact camera with built-in ZUIKO lens

Photokina mock-up to reveal new compact flagship
Hamburg, 20 September 2010 – Olympus is developing a new flagship digital compact camera that for the first time will incorporate a lens from its critically acclaimed ZUIKO lens system. A mock-up of the new flagship compact will go on show from 21 to 26 September at photokina, the world’s leading fair for photography and imaging, held in Cologne, Germany. Olympus Imaging President Masaharu Okubo expects the new camera to go on sale in the first quarter of 2011.
In addition to a lens from the award-winning ZUIKO system, the new camera’s accessory port will be compatible with accessories for Olympus’ groundbreaking PEN E-P2 and E-PL1 cameras. Other features and specifications are yet to be revealed.
