Canon has today posted firmware version 1.0.4 for the EOS-D60 digital SLR. This firmware fixes two bugs outstanding from version 1.0.2, these are: Thumbnails of RAW images appearing black (main image is ok), RAW data not written to CF card (sometimes the camera 'pauses' writing and doesn't release until shutter is half-pressed). This firmware can be loaded onto cameras with firmware versions 1.0.0, 1.0.1 and 1.0.2. This firmware can be loaded via Compact Flash card.

Release Notes:

EOS D60 Firmware Update Version 1.0.4

What's new?

EOS D60 Firmware Version 1.0.4 resolves the following issues, which may occur in the RAW mode depending on shutter release timing:

  1. Thumbnail is black. *1
  2. Data is not written to CF card (or microdrive). *2

*1 Only the thumbnail image is affected, there is no problem with the main image.
*2 With EOS D60 cameras that have Firmware Version 1.0.0, 1.0.1 or 1.0.2 installed, in cases where data stored in the camera's buffer memory has not yet been written to the CF card or microdrive, that data will be written when the menu button is pressed, or when the shutter button is pressed halfway.

EOS D60 Firmware Version 1.0.4 can be used to update EOS D60 cameras with Firmware Version(s) 1.0.0, 1.0.1 or 1.0.2.
