Panasonic Leica DG Nocticron 42.5mm F1.2 samples gallery
We got our hands on the recently announced Leica DG Nocticron 42.5mm F1.2 ASPH OIS at the CES trade show in Las Vegas. It's an ultra-fast portrait prime for Micro Four Thirds that offers an 85mm equivalent field of view. We shot some quick samples mounted on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH3, including an aperture progression series.

With the introduction of the Lumix DMC-GX8 and its new Dual IS mode, Panasonic promised firmware updates for most of its lenses to make them compatible. Included in this round are the Lumix G Vario 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 II, Nocticron 42.5mm F1.2, and Macro 30mm F2.8 among others. Read more
Panasonic has released firmware updates for its Lumix DMC-GH3 and DMC-G5 mirrorless cameras. Version 1.2 for the GH3 adds 'Low light AF' that works down to -3 EV, a 'Silent Mode', and an 'Exposure Compensation Reset' function. Meanwhile version 1.1 for the G5 only corrects wording of the Motion Picture menu on cameras sold in PAL broadcast regions, and therefore isn't required by US owners. The GH3 update adds the ability to shoot 1080p60 footage in MP4 format and lets users connect to a computer via Wi-Fi by entering the computer name (NetBIOS names for Mac). Meanwhile the lens updates promise improved autofocus performance in AF Continuous mode when mounted on the GH3.
