Countdown to PIX 2015: Dixie Dixon and breaking into fashion photography
We're less than a week away from PIX 2015, and we're taking the opportunity to introduce you to some of our talented re:FRAME speakers. You can catch them October 6 & 7 live streamed right here, or join us in person at Seattle Center! Just pick up an all-access pass to gain entry to re:FRAME talks at McCaw Hall.
Dixie Dixon acquired her first camera, a Nikon FG, when she was just 12 years old. As a young photographer she would lose herself for hours on end in the darkroom, putting in seven to ten hours without realizing it. Given that kind of dedication, t's no surprise that she's channeled that passion into a successful career.
So what has helped her break into such a competitive field? Dixon shared her story with on Seamless' Be Inspired podcast. For her, only showcasing the kind of work she wants to be hired for has helped her net lifestyle and fashion jobs with high-profile clients. She also emphasizes the importance of developing an individual style - organizing a shoot to carry out that vision can help a new photographer build up a portfolio of work that is uniquely them.
Check out Dixie Dixon's PIX re:FRAME talk for more of her insights on fashion photography.
Visit Dixie Dixon's website to see more of her work, and stay up to speed with her on Twitter and Instagram. She'll be taking the stage at PIX to talk about fashion photography on Wednesday, October 7 at 1:15pm PT.
