Olympus has announced that the Stylus 1s compact superzoom will be coming to the UK in early summer, and will cost £429.99. The camera, an updated version of the original Stylus 1, has already been on sale in Japan since the end of 2014 and was launched in the USA in April this year.

This forthcoming version will come pre-loaded with the latest Stylus 1 firmware, which allows compatibility with a company’s WCON-08X 0.8x wide angle converter (via adapter CLA-14), taking the 28-300mm (equiv) focal range of the camera’s lens to 22.4mm, while maintaining the F2.8 maximum aperture. The camera is also compatible with the TCON-17X teleconvter, which extends the longest end of the lens to 510mm – again at F2.8.

Designed in the style of the company’s OM-D Micro Four Thirds cameras, the Stylus 1s has a slightly updated design with what Olympus describes as a more solid build and a new textured finish that makes it easier to hold. This new model also brings remote wireless shutter release from a smartphone (via OI.Share v2.5), Interval and Time Lapse Shooting, pinpoint focusing, and Focus Peaking to the Stylus range.
