Photokina 2014: smart cameras and devices at the Sony and Samsung stands
The QX section at the Sony booth is a busy area.
Photokina is mostly a traditional camera show but those camera manufacturers who are also in the mobile device business brought a range of their smart devices with them to show off. Sony has an entire area of its booth dedicated to the new QX smart camera modules that were announced at IFA a couple of weeks ago. Visitors can also check out the new Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact smartphones. The QX1, which takes Sony's E-Mount lenses, can be tried out with a variety of them attached.

At the Samsung booth the Korean manufacturer's range of Wi-Fi capable cameras including the brand new NX1 flagship is on display but you can also try out the brand new Galaxy Note 4 phablet with 16MP 1/2.4 sensor and optical image stabilization that was also announced at IFA in Berlin. Samsung is also still the only manufacturer to offer real hybrid devices and visitors can have a closer look at the Galaxy K Zoom and Galaxy Camera II as well.
Sony's new camera models can be tried out at the booth and most other manufacturers offer test scenes and models for the same purpose.
