Growth of Digital Products Drives Need for Partnerships
The consumer digital camera market is experiencing phenomenal growth. According to a new report from Imerge Consulting Group, in Belmont California, digital camera manufacturers sold more than 2 million units in the US (not including toy cameras) in 1999. According to surveys conducted by Lyra Research, Inc., worldwide revenue from the sale of digital products and services will grow to $4.6 billion in 2002.
``As consumers use these digital cameras, the focus of consumer photography will change from `taking the picture' as we've known it for the last 100 years to `using the picture' in new, creative ways. Companies such as DCN and EZ Prints are building the infrastructure for the digital consumer,'' said Bob Miller, CEO of EZ Prints.
``Companies will succeed by constantly innovating and designing value-added features and services to increase the recreational and business functionality of digital photography,'' said Kevin Kane, analyst with IDC. ``Partnerships will be an important success factor in order to satisfy ever more demanding customers.''
The EZ Prints' e-photofinishing service through DCN will be available early in Q2 C2000 as DCN launches its Shoot-2-Print service. Specific pricing is available through DCN.
