Panasonic issues lens firmware updates to enable Dual I.S. with Lumix DMC-GX8
With the introduction of the Lumix DMC-GX8 and its Dual IS mode, Panasonic promised firmware updates for most of its lenses to make them compatible with the new technology. Firmware updates are now available for six Panasonic lenses, with more support on the way by early next year. This round of updates includes the following:
- Lumix G Vario 14-140mm F3.5-5.6 ASPH Power O.I.S. (H-FS14140)
- Lumix G Vario 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 II ASPH Mega O.I.S. (H-FS1442A)
- Lumix G Macro 30mm F2.8 ASPH Mega O.I.S. (H-HS030)
- Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm F2.8 ASPH (H-HS12035)
- Lumix G X Vario 35-100mm F2.8 ASPH (H-HS35100)
- Lumix G Leica DG Nocticron 42.5mm F1.2 (H-NS043)
Visit Panasonic Japan for links to download each of these firmware updates. Panasonic has promised to introduce similar updates for all of its current lenses except for the original 14-45mm kit zoom, 45-200mm F4-5.6 and 100-300mm F4-5.6 by February 2016.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX8 is the follow-up to the company's successful GX7 rangefinder-style mirrorless camera. The GX8 boasts a new 20MP Four Thirds sensor and 'Dual IS', which combines sensor and lens shift image stabilization for better results. The camera's ISO range tops out at 25,600 and it offers a max burst rate of 10 fps with single AF and 6 fps with continuous AF.
