Hands-on with Canon's new 11-24mm F4 L

That massive front element is much too big for conventional filters, so in common with many other ultra-wide lenses, the new 11-24mm is limited to rear-mounted drop-in gel filters. This rules out polarizers and graduated neutral density filters, but does at least mean you can use one of a number of solid color or neutral density gels (Kodak makes some excellent Wratten filters). This can be useful for landscape photography, and is something the Nikon 14-24mm F2.8 cannot do.
