Nikon 1 J5 and Samsung NX500 added to studio test scene
We've just added a pair of compact mirrorless cameras to our studio test scene - the Nikon 1 J5 and Samsung NX500. The J5 is the latest model to represent Nikon's entry-level mirrorless lineup, offering a 1"-type 20.8MP BSI-CMOS sensor. The NX500 is Samsung's scaled down version of its flagship NX1, using the same 28MP APS-C BSI-CMOS sensor. See how each camera performs against its peers in our studio scene.

For the NX500 we use the Samsung 16-50mm F2-2.8 because of all the Samsung lenses we have available, it is still the overall best performer, and we want to keep light levels consistent with the NX1 to evaluate noise performance.
We have also altered the shooting method for the Nikon 1 series due to the J5's resolution boost. Instead of shooting the 32mm F1.2 at F5.6, we went for F4 to get a little less diffraction and to optimize center sharpness. Due to the wider aperture, the corners do suffer, so please use this scene to only judge center sharpness and noise performance.
