Summit Attempt. What's impressive about this is not so much the image as the people in it. It was a father and his two young (< 10 year old) daughters climbing up Mt. Ngauruhoe in New Zealand’s Central Plateau. This mountain was made famous by being featured in the Lord Of The Rings movies as Mount Doom, and indeed beneath the clouds it was an ominous scene. But we broke through to a brilliance above the blanket, the young family veered off, and I caught them on my kit lens near their moment of triumph. Taken in 2011. Photo and caption by Sarnim Dean

Tell us a bit about yourself and where you're from.

I'm a Kiwi, that is I'm from New Zealand. A father of two young sons, I recently moved to the small South Island town of Blenheim after a lifetime of living in NZ's largest city, Auckland. Photography is one of my two main pastimes, the other being competitive mountain biking. I'm fortunate to live in such a beautiful country.
