This is our standard studio scene comparison shot taken from exactly the same tripod position. Lighting: daylight simulation, >98% CRI. Crops are 100%. Ambient temperature was approximately 22°C (~72°F). Camera settings as per previous pages.
Please not that for this comparison we converted the E-620's RAW files in Capture One. This is because we were given reason to believe Adobe Camera Raw's handling of files from the latest generation of Olympus DSLRs was not fully optimized.
Sony DSLR-A380 (RAW) vs. Olympus E-620 (RAW)
Sony DSLR-A380 (RAW)
Olympus E-620 (RAW)
4.2 MB JPEG (4592 x 3056)
4.8 MB JPEG (4032 x 3024)
Despite the fact that Olympus has reduced the strength of its low pass filters on the latest generation of DSLRs the Sony pulls slightly more detail out if its RAW files than the E-620. This is partly due to its higher nominal resolution and partly due to better pixel-level detail. However, as mentioned above, we are comparing files here that have been created by two different RAW converters. Therefore we can only make a final judgment once Adobe ACR fully supports the E-620.
