Nikon D5000: Nikkor 50 mm F1.4G lens, Aperture Priority, ISO 200
JPEG Large/Fine, Manual WB, Default Parameters, Self-Timer
4.0 MB JPEG (4592 x 3056)
4.7 MB JPEG (4288 x 2848)
Again, we are talking about marginal differences here. The Nikon offers very marginally better per-pixel detail but the Sony counters with a higher nominal resolution which evens things out. Spotting any difference in detail on a normal size print will be next to impossible. The color rendition is remarkably similar as well.
