Disc initialise / finalise sequence

When a blank CD-R (or a previously finalised CD-R) is inserted the screen will display "NOT INITIALIZED". You must first initialise the CD-R (write basic disc header information). |
Half-pressing the shutter release button causes the camera to focus and calculate exposure once it's done so a steady green "focus/AE lock" dot appears as can be seen in this image. |
Although we've not detailed it here, the finalise sequence is almost identical, requires the camera to be put on a flat surface away from vibration.

This is an example of some of the settings which are displayed over the live preview image on the LCD, in this example we can see: Macro Focus, Image size 1600, 77 frames taken and a graphical representation of remaining CD-R space (about half). |

After a full-press of the shutter release a review of the final shot is displayed along with the RECORDING message, you can't interrupt this process nor use the camera until the image has been written out CD-R (lots of whirring noises). |
In this example we've got the "pop-up" menu displayed over the preview image, this can be displayed or hidden at any stage by pushing up or down on the 4-way controller. |

In record mode it is possible to get an immediate review of images taken without turning the mode dial to "Play", with the menu bar hidden simply press the 4-way controller to the left, the last image shot will be displayed along with the option to delete the image. |

| When using manual focus the image is zoomed by 2 times, about 2 seconds after you stop focusing the display is returned to a full view. | |
Play display
Switching to Play mode loads and displays the last image shot, there is a delay whilst the image is loaded from the CD-R.

Pushing the zoom lever towards Tele zooms into the review image, magnification levels of: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.5, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, 2.7, 3.0, 3.3, 3.6, 3.9, 4.3, 4.7, 5.0 x. Holding the Tele button down to zoom in completely (5.0x) takes 6.3 seconds. |

Selecting INDEX from the play menu displays 3 x 2 thumbnails, in this mode we can perform selective deletion from the menu, marking images individually for deletion. |
