Camera Menus
The RX1 has a simplified version of the menus Sony has used for many years. There are 80 menu items spead over 16 pages - 7 fewer items than Sony's RX100. Thanks to a fairly effective Function menu, it's rarely necessary to delve into the main menus. The key things to familiarise yourself with are the options in Custom Menu page 3 that define the behavior of the five customizable buttons. The other occasions on which we found ourselves using the meny were to swtich between Raw and JPEG mode (though that can be assigned to a button) and adjust the Panorama options.

| The RX1 has a fairly familiar Sony menu. As with the RX100 it's starting to get a little over-filled for a non-tabbed menu (where you can jump straight past whole sections in one go). |

Shooting menu
The four shooting menu pages cover some basic behavioral operations (such as SteadyShot and whether pressing the shutter button sets exposure or focus) and image settings (size, color and processing).

Movie menu
Although the RX1 has similar underlying video specs to the A99, it offers considerably less control - something we'll see in more detail later in the review.

Custom menu
The RX1's custom menus run to four pages, and allow a pretty high degree of camera configuration. Here you'll also find all the settings relating to the user interface and how much correction the camera applies to its files (both Raw and JPEG).
