At ISO 400 the difference between these two cameras is even more stark. Again the Samsung wins hands-down in terms of pure detail and sharpness, but noise is a real issue, with color blotches in even fairly pale mid tones and all but the brightest highlights. The V700 may have a fairly significant edge in terms of resolution, but I suspect many people would actually prefer the result produced by the SD500 unless they're happy with post-processing.
