At ISO 400 the impact of noise and noise reduction becomes quite obvious in both images. However, the two manufacturers have adopted quite different anti noise philosophies. Ricoh retains more detail (and has a a much sharper look) but is rather messy looking thanks to the increased artefacts. Panasonic tackles luminance noise quite heavily which results in visibly cleaner but also very blurry, less detailed images.
