OpinionHad this camera a little over a month now,a nd have taken around 100 shots.Being my first digital camera, I took a long hard look around for features, etc. In the end, this was the selection because of the combination of features, particularly the 10x optical zoom, and the price, which was unbeatable (compared to Nikon cp4500,5700, Fuji, Canon, etc with similar features. Would have liked a bit more resolution, but the 3.2mp is OK for most work. I'm still learning all the menus, modes, etc, and as a long time SLR user, this is probably the most difficult aspect of digital photography - I'm used to much greater limitations on shot selection! Lens quality seems OK, haven't noticed any significant distortion at high zoom, but why the F8 upper limitation on apeture? This places a bit of a limit on depth of field. The software that came with the camera is OK, but I only really use it for stitching panorama shots. I'm using Paint Shop Pro for editing - but maybe Photoshop would be better - anyone have any recommendations? | ||||
ProblemsJust a couple of things I've noted:1) battery life isn't great. I'm used to batteries lasting years in my SLR, but I've already had to toss the batteries that came with the camera. I only have one set of rechargeables, but I better get some more; 2) low light focus isn't great, but I understand this is a common problem. Can't understand why manufacturers won't include an auto assist feature (battery life maybe??); 3) manual focussing is a pain. The zoom window in the LCD is impossible to see (too much pixellation) to be useful; 4) the camera strap and bag are hopeless. Would have liked to have a more secure strap for streadying the camera. |
