Opinion

The 7hi is generally well built and solid. The zoom focus is tight but usable. However the lens construction could be stronger (I prefer metal). I forced to ISO100 -1 or -2 contrast and +1 sat as recommended in the Minolta forum with FANTASTIC results...no evidence on noise on the computer monitor. ISO200 had very noticable noise. Setting were easy to make and 5 custom memory setting a plus (I've only used 2).

Problems

As noted in the Minolta forum initial battery life is short and grip get's warm...more so with the supplied Sanyo batteries than the Powerex 1800 mah I bought. Had mild vignetting with a standard Tiffen UV filter at 28mm. I have since purchased a Hoya slim profile SMC Pro 1 UV filter that should solve the problem. Tiff images are extremely large 14.2 MB
