At ISO 800 the different approaches described on the previous page become much more obvious. The Panasonic image is very soft after the application of massive amounts of noise reduction. The Ricoh imaging engine has done the same but then stuck another heavy dose of sharpening on top. Unfortunately all you sharpen at this stage is noise and noise reduction artifacts giving the Ricoh output almost a comic like appearance.

The ISO 800 output from both cameras is firmly based in the emergency camp, only use this setting if you can live with all fine detail in your images being blurred away.
