Camera Menus

The L1's menus are split into four vertically tabbed, color-coded groups; Record menu (red), Setup menu (yellow), Custom menu (cyan) and Play (green). Use the four-way controller to move down the tabs, press right to enter the menu and change settings. Each menu is described below.

Record menu

The record menu provides for configuration of settings which will affect the final image file, these include the 'film mode' (image parameters / color and tone mapping) as well as image size / quality and mode. I was struck by the decision to only provide a RAW+JPEG option, you can shoot in 'only' RAW, there is also no option to change output color space (that's in the Custom menu).

Setup menu

The setup menu configures the usability side of the camera with options such as LCD brightness, record review options and power save. Slightly odd was the decision to provide for blinking highlights in record review but not play mode.
