Panasonic DMC-L1 vs. Canon EOS 30D

Camera settings:

  • Panasonic DMC-L1: Olympus ED 50 mm F2.0 Macro, Aperture Priority, ISO 100
JPEG Large/Fine, Manual WB, Default Parameters, Self-Timer
  • Canon EOS 30D: Canon EF 50 mm F1.4 lens, Aperture Priority, ISO 100
JPEG Large/Fine, Manual WB, Default Parameters (Standard PS), Self-Timer
Panasonic DMC-L1
Canon EOS 30D
3,891 KB JPEG (3136 x 2352)
2,847 KB JPEG (3504 x 2336)

The L1 and EOS 30D's vertical resolution can be called identical (there's just 16 pixels in it), from a detail and sharpness point of view however the EOS 30D is noticeably better throughout the image with sharper edges and better definition of texture. Color wise these two are a fair match, which isn't a bad thing from the L1's perspective.
