By the ISO 800 mark, the SP560UZ is limping badly, losing still more ground to the SP-550UZ, which itself never looked like troubling the record-books. Probably the politest thing we can say about the SP-560UZ's performance is that it has very little in the way of chroma noise - the blacks have remained black with virtually no aberrant color creeping in. Unfortunately there are clear signs of luminance noise and the drastic attempts that have been made to reduce it. The result is a smudged, unsharp image with indistinct detail and a noticeable loss of contrast. Lest there be any confusion, this is considered progress.
