Olympus E-520 vs. Sony DSLR-A350

Camera settings:

  • Olympus E-520: Olympus 50 mm F2.0 lens, Aperture Priority, ISO 100
JPEG Large/SHQ, Manual WB, Default Parameters (Standard), Anti-shock 2 sec

  • Sony DSLR-A350: EF 50 mm F1.4 lens, Aperture Priority, ISO 100
JPEG Large/Fine, Manual WB, Default Parameters (Standard), Self-Timer (with MLU)
Olympus E-520
Sony DSLR-A350

5.9 MB (3648 x 2736)
4.0 MB JPEG (4592 x 3056)

Again, there's not a lot to call between the 14 megapixel A350 and the Olympus 10 megapixel offering. The Sony images are a touch softer but not to the extent that you'd notice, were they not placed side-by-side. There's essentially no difference in terms of the amount of detail being conveyed in the JPEGs, irrespective of pixel counts.
