Olympus E-420 vs. Canon EOS 450D (Digital Rebel XSi)
Canon EOS 450D: Canon EF 50 mm F1.4 lens, Aperture Priority, ISO 100
JPEG Large/Fine, Manual WB, Default Parameters (Standard), Self-Timer (with MLU)
Olympus E-420
Canon EOS 450D
6,102 KB JPEG (3648 x 2736)
3.7MB JPEG (4272 x 2848)
The EOS 450D's higher pixel count (and what we presume to be a weaker AA filter) pays off and the Canon produces crisper and visibly more detailed output than the Olympus (though as usual Canon's default sharpening is a lot higher too). Like the Nikon D60 the Canon slightly boosts the greens to deliver more appealing foliage green for landscape shots.
